Abstract This manual is a model to be followed by bridge paint inspectors on how to perform inspection duties properly. Given that most of today's bridge-paint work is being done on existing steel, this manual is geared toward people working in the field on existing steel. The manual is broken down into three primary sections. The first section covers the pre-painting operations requirements. The second section covers the inspection of the painting operations. The third section consists of two appendices. Appendix A contains inspection checklists that correspond with individual inspection tasks. These checklists are intended to serve as a reminder of the major items to be checked at each stage of the operation. This electronic version contains printable checklists that are listed at the end of this document. Appendix B contains pictures and descriptions of the equipment typically used by the inspector.
