Abstract This report describes the different definitions of key elements in the measurement of alcohol involvement in crashes in 20 different countries. Specifically, countries differ in their definitions of alcohol involvement (e.g., driver only, driver and pedestrian(s), over legal blood alcohol content), fatality (e.g., 30 days following a crash, 8 days, 12 months), time limits on alcohol testing (e.g., at the scene of the crash, a few hours after), percent of drivers tested, and the use of autopsy reports which are used for official statistics in some countries, but not others. /Abstract from report summary page/
