Abstract The Collision Analysis Working Group (CAWG) reviewed and analyzed main-track collision of both freight and passenger trainss involving human factor issues and to make safety findings and recommendations. CAWG agreed to review main track train collisions where human factor causes contributed to trains exceeding their authority by (1) passing a stop signal; (2) failing to comply with a signal requiring restricted speed; or (3) entering territory with a train order, track warrant or direct traffic control authority. 65 collision cases were selected.
