Abstract This report analyzes the benefits and costs of a potential satellite vehicle maintenance facility on the outer portion of Cape Cod. A satellite facility had been proposed as a means of servicing the local transit vehicles that bring visitors to Cape Cod National Seashore, reducing deadhead time and mileage, and potentially opening up partnership opportunities with municipalities on the Outer Cape. The report concludes that a full-fledged satellite facility is unlikely to be cost-effective under current conditions, and presents information on a range of alternative options, including a mobile maintenance approach.
