Abstract This report presents the results of an assessment of the benefits and costs associated with the adoption of Recommended Fire Safety Practices for Rail Transit Materials Selection for rapid rail transit and light rail transit vehicles. The potential benefits to accrue are identified and discussed. Changes in vehicle construction costs are calculated using several methods of analysis. The Recommended Fire Safety Practices are presented in Appendix A.
