Abstract The paper presents clinical observations, physiological data and pathological findings that have been collected on a series of baboons exposed to controlled occipital impacts under local anesthesia. This acute experimental trauma study was accomplished to establish trauma mechanisms and compare the relative effects of impact with supported heads and heads capable of responding to impact in a controlled horizontal A-P plane.
