| Abstract | After a five-month effort, LightSquared, in cooperation with interested federal agencies and the commercial GPS device industry, has issued a Report on the results of intensive testing of the interaction between LightSquared’s planned terrestrial operations and a variety of GPS devices. Other entities, such as RTCA —an aviation-related Federal Advisory Committee — Qualcomm, the Department of Defense and others, have also performed tests. Although the results vary among devices, the overall conclusion is that transmissions in the 10 MHz band at the top of LightSquared’s downlink frequencies — the band nearest to the GPS frequencies— will adversely affect the performance of a significant number of legacy GPS receivers. |
