Abstract This report presents the results of a program undertaken to study potential alternatives to the VICON (Visual Confirmation of Voice Takeoff Clearance) System which has undergone operational field tests at Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks, Connecticut since October 1979. The tests are scheduled for completion in March 1980. This report presents alternatives from two different viewpoints namely, those alternatives that can improve certain key components of the existing VICON System, and those proposing entirely different concepts than the current concept.
