Abstract The Airport Performance Model is a computer simulation of airport delay and congestion prepared to help evaluate the benefit of capacity-related investments in the nation's airports. The model estimates dollar benefits to passengers and aircraft operators or delay reduction in landing, takeoff and gate docking, and reduction in fuel consumed and pollutants emitted as well as required groundside facilities. It does not include safety or noise reduction benefits, or increase in community values. The model has a data base comprising 31 high density airports. The delay estimate from the model showed reasonably good agreement with data taken at JFK, LGA and EWR. It was used to evaluate proposed investments for Honolulu, Detroit and Charlotte, N.C. (Author)
