| Abstract | This report provides an assessment of the feasibility of alternative transportation options to accommodate visitation at Weir Farm National Historic Site in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Weir Farm, the historic home of artist J. Alden Weir, faces numerous challenges, particularly parking constraints in a residential neighborhood. Accommodating more visitors in private cars will come at a high cost with regard to the landscape and its viewshed, in addition to the strain on narrow, local roads. This feasibility study considers alternatives to parking expansion, namely a parking reservation system and transit. Transit emerges as the transportation alternative most suitable at Weir Farm. |
