| Abstract | This report provides an overview of DOT's current research and technology efforts, as well as those planned for Fiscal Year (FY) 1996, in two major areas: 1) Advanced Materials Research for Transportation Infrastructure, and 2) Advanced Materials Research for Vehicles and Other Applications. This report could also prove valuable to DOT in highlighting common R&D thrusts, intermodally transferrable and multimodally applicable technologies. Certain advanced materials and failure prediction models developed and demonstrated for aircraft structural applications could be appliable to ground vehicles as well. |
