| Abstract | This report provides an evaluation of the potential of weight savings for a 1980 General Motors X-body car through the substitution of lightweight composite materials for presently used metal materials. A total of 75 components of this vehicle are considered for substitution of lightweight materials. Based on equal stiffness for material substitution, analysis shows 495 pounds can be removed from this X-body car. |
