Abstract This report describes the Perturbed Track Test, Pilot Test and Freight Test conducted at the Transportation Test Center in Pueblo, Colorado, in November and December 1978, August 1978, and February 1979, respectively. The tests involved two typical AMTRAK six-axle locomotives and two typical four-axle freight locomotives. The report documents the objectives of the test, the preparation, the test conduct, the data obtained, and the potential uses of the data. Discussions of instrumentation effectiveness and track geometry measuring procedures are included, and selected typical results are presented.
