Abstract Waveguides and transmission lines employed in train communications exhibit dispersion, which is caused by (a) their inherent properties and (b) the cumulative effect of discontinuities at joints. To provide the means to evaluate such waveguides, several computer programs have been developed to analyze and simulate the effect of dispersion on pulse transmission.
