| Abstract | An overall technology assessment of new and improved transportation systems is given. A broad survey has been made of new systems concepts for passenger and freight transportation in urban and interurban applications. Results of the findings are reported and projections of expected innovations and improvements are made along with discussion of some of the major limitations to wide scale applications over the next two decades. Recommendations for research and development emphasis in some of the more promising areas are given where possible although full analysis of cost factors and comparative analysis of competing systems were beyond the scope of this investigation. |
