Abstract The report describes the most commonly used models in urban transportation planning. A background on urban transportation planning is given including changes in planning objectives and the effects of Federal legislation. General concepts and problems in the use of the models are also presented. An assessment of the situation is made and recommendations for improvement are suggested.
