Abstract An analysis was made of methods for measuring vehicle occupant motion during crash or impact conditions. The purpose of the measurements is to evaluate restraint performance using human, anthropometric dummy, or animal occupants. A detailed Fourier frequency analysis is made of the sensor requirements. Potential candidate systems are evaluated, and five of these are recommended for further development and field testing.
