Abstract Between May 1980 and July 1980, the City of Lincoln, Nebraska conducted a Home-End Ridesharing Demonstration Project to assist residents of three neighborhoods to travel by means other than single-occupancy vehicles. This report presents the findings of the evaluation of the project. The critical issues examined in the evaluation are whether the demonstration project assisted people in finding alterntive means of travel and whether, as a result of the demonstration, residents made more of their trips by alternative means. Another important idea tested in Lincoln was whether personal attention had any impact on changing people's methods of travel.
