| Abstract | This report, prepared under the direction of the UMTA Fire and Life Safety Education /Training Working Group presents a summary and the results of the successful workshop "On Track to Fire and Life Safety in Rail Rapid Transit." Sponsored by the Urban Mass Transportation Administration's (UMTA) Office of Technical Assistance Safety and Security Staff, and developed in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) National Fire Academy, the workshop represented the initial effort in a program to identify the fire and life safety training needs of rail rapid transit system and fire service personnel. Seven specific training needs are identified and recommendations for their implementation are discussed. |
