Abstract This white paper is a follow-up to the Volpe Center report for FHWA, “Ridesharing Options Analysis and Practitioners’ Toolkit.” The white paper provides an update to current ridesharing options and further explores technology and policy developments that make new methods of ridesharing possible. In addition, the report assesses ridesharing as a key contributing factor to supporting livable communities, and in particular, how ridesharing can be part of a "tipping point" in reducing the need for vehicle ownership and demand for parking.
