| Abstract | The Morgantown Pi-oplc Mover is an Aiifoinafed Giiidcway Transit system wliiih provides personal rapid transit (PRD service between the separated campuses ol West Virginia University and the Central Business District. The system development and constniction was funded by the Urban Mass Transportation Administration, and was completed in three phases (lA, IB. and II) over the period from 1971 to 1979. The system consists of a fleet of electrically powered, rubbertired, passenger-carrying vehicles, operating on a dedicated guideway network at close headway (vehicle separation). The system provides a safe, comfortable, low polluting, reliable means of transportation. The system features year- round operation, as well as direct origin to destination service. |
