| Abstract | As the first in a series of evaluations, the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Innovative Public Transportation Workforce Development Program report will evaluate award recipient in federal fiscal year 2011. As a component of the current Administration’s Ladders of Opportunities initiative, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and FTA have made workforce development a central area of focus. With the ever-increasing deployment of new technologies and an aging workforce, transit operators across the U.S. are faced with a human capital and knowledge capacity gap. This evaluation report will help provide an overview of the first round of FTA-funded workforce projects, providing important best practices and lessons learned for other transit operators. |
