Abstract Over the last two decades, new methods of strengthening bridges using both traditional materials and fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have been developed in an effort to meet the increasing demands applied on the aging and deteriorating transportation system by present day traffic. This report provides information for bridge owners and bridge engineers regarding these new and emerging bridge strengthening methods. This report provides a summary of the findings of Task 6: Report on Techniques for Bridge Strengthening, one task performed under Project Award: DTFH61-11-H-00027: Advancing Steel and Concrete Bridge Technology to Improve Infrastructure Performance.
