Abstract Road Diets reallocate travel lanes and utilize the space for other uses and travel modes. The most common type of Road Diet reduces the number of through lanes from four to two and adds a center two-way left-turn lane (TWLTL). This document describes the benefits of Road Diets and highlights real-world examples of agencies including Road Diets within new or revised transportation policies and guidance.
