Abstract The MVMA 2-Dimensional Crash Victim Simulation model was used to model the head/neck dynamic response of human volunteer and cadaver test subjects in the -Gx acceleration vector. Photometric data of sled impact tests conducted at Wayne State University were used as forcing excitations for the MVMA simulations. A limited parameter variation study was made for three volunteer test subjects and one embalmed cadaver subject. The volunteer test subjects were restrained by a two-point lap belt. The embalmed cadaver was restrained by a three-point lap/shoulder belt. New estimates of the biomechanical properties of the neck were obtained for the volunteer and cadaver test subjects for the extension stiffness at C7/T1, augmenting the model parameters determined for Naval Bio dynamic Laboratory (NBDL) test subjects. In future studies, it is recommended that sensor data be used in addition to photometric data for the analysis of the kinematics and dynamics of the head and neck.
