Abstract Connected vehicle technologies enable vehicles, roadside infrastructure, and personal portable devices to communicate and share information through wireless communication technology. Onboard units (OBUs) installed on vehicles will continually broadcast information on the vehicle’s position, direction, and speed in the form of a Basic Safety Message (BSM). These messages are received by other vehicles and used by applications to improve safety. Roadside units (RSUs) installed along the roadway will also receive and broadcast messages to further improve safety and enhance mobility.
