Abstract This report documents the work performed for the FTA's Office of Research, Innovation and Demonstration in support of the Mobility and Accessibility Strategic Goal and the outcome goal of employing the latest technology to meet the increased needs of mobility and accessibility. The goal of this report is to provide rural transit systems with the tools to implement Rural Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applications to help improve their ability to link people with their community. The report identifies and documents transit agencies that illustrate best agencies in implementation of technology to advance rural transit. It further documents research undertaken to identify steps to successfully plan and implement technology in rural transit.
