Abstract The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and extent to which commercial motor vehicle (cmv) simulator technology is being used in the training, testing, and/or licensing of CMV drivers. This report documents the results of a comprehensive effort that includes: a literature review, the development of functional requirements for CMV driving simulators, the experiences of other government agencies and private sector organizations with training simulators, and a description and assessment of United States and foreign CMV driving simulators. Conclusions and recommendations are presented for further research and development.
