| Abstract | Performance based navigation has led to increased noise complaints due to the concentration of flight tracks. However, performance based navigation allows the opportunity to design advanced operational flight procedures for the purposes of noise abatement. A study of various advanced operational procedure concepts for noise abatement is presented. In this study, a framework is developed and applied for noise analysis of advanced operational procedures. Advanced operational procedures that have been designed for noise abatement include horizontal flight profile modifications, vertical flight profile modifications, and dispersed flight tracks. Metrics used to assess each type of procedure are also discussed. |
