Abstract The role of crosswinds in the relationship between crew workload and size of safety margin during low visibility takeoffs using HUD was examined. 3-dimensional (3-D) safety margin profiles for different low visibility takeoff conditions and guidance types were generated utilizing the raw and standardized scores for the six NASA-TLX subscales, with and without the effect of crosswinds.
