Abstract The purpose of Track D of the Travel Model Improvement Program (TMIP) is to identify, design, and develop improved data collection procedures that will meet decision makers' current and future needs. To support the development of the overall Track D Data Research Program, a review of ongoing data related research has been undertaken. This review has focused on two major areas of data research: data needs, collection methods, and analyses for transportation program applications conducted by state departments of transportation and regional planning agencies; and data needed to support the kinds of short- and long-range travel demand model improvements being developed in Tracks B and C of the TMIP. This technical memorandum presents the results of this review.
